Nai Nai returns!
Shannon went to the States some time ago to care for her invalid mother. Her Mother went to be with the Lord and Nathan flew back to the States to escort “Nai Nai” (as the children call her… it means “Grandmother”) back to the Home of Hope.
We were simply not prepared for the “Welcome Home” the children had prepared for us!
As we pulled up to the front of the Home of Hope it was a major surprise to see so many ribbons, balloons, banners and signs welcoming Nai Nai home.
There were signs and banners and ribbons and balloons everywhere… The above pictures were taken of the children making the preparations before we arrived.
There were hugs galore and greetings and “Welcome Home” being said over and over again. Some of the children who had come into the Home of Hope while Shannon was away were filled with curiosity and a little timid but it didn’t take them long to warm up to the festivities.
Finally, the “Welcome Home” celebration culminated with the children releasing so many balloons into the air. Everyone stopped and watched them drift lazily into the sky, to finally be blown across the Gongyi country side!
Nai Nai is home!
