Holly goes to Switzerland – Van… and more

January 27, 2012

Wow….

Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for the response we have realized from our appeal for funds for a new van.

To date we have received $6,400.00 toward the needed $17,500.00 and it goes without saying we are so much more confident at this point that the funds will come in soon making it possible for us to purchase the much needed replacement van.

We are aware that donating to a van is not a “life saving” or “life changing” thing to do… However, the van is part of the development of these children’s lives in that it is used 100% for their benefit…. taking them to school, taking them to the doctor… buying clothes and groceries…. so all in all, a contribution to the van is in fact part of contributing to the ‘life changing” work being done by the Home of Hope.

A huge “Thank You” to all of you who have donated to this worthy cause and a big “Won’t you please help….” to all our other friends and supporters.

In other news….

Holly Hou San Juan, left just today for two years in Switzerland. Holly is our oldest girl at the Home of Hope. She came to the Home of Hope in February 2000 when we first opened.

Holly is the recipient of major scholarship funding for one of the better universities in Switzerland and is majoring in Advanced Hotel Management.

We will sure miss her around here. She is always “Big Sister” to the younger girls and helpful daughter to us older ones! We wish Holly the very best and we hope the two years goes by quickly so she can return to us here.

This is another prime example of the results of what the Home of Hope is doing in the lives of needy children here in China….. and YOU… our friends and supporters are ALL participants in sowing seeds of hope and a future into these awesome lives.

Chairty Xiong Hui‘s improvement just gets better and better.

Today when I went to see her she greeted me with a big kiss on the cheek and offered me a bite of the “slobbered on” cracker she was eating…. πŸ™‚ Of course I accepted… with great joy I must admit!

She will be going back to the hospital for some extensive testing after the China New Years is over… but our doctor expects great results from the tests! We are so happy and again wish to thank all our friends and supporters for your prayers on Charity‘s behalf!

Again, please remember us in your prayers and if you can manage to participate in the fund raising for the new van for the home of hope, we will be so grateful!

Thank You and Blessings!
