Japanese Cherry Blossoms

Screen Shot 2013-05-16 at 4.06.52 PMCherry Blossom Time…
Generally in April, right around Nathan’s birthday, we have a special occurrence at the Home of Hope that everyone enjoys and really looks forward to!

As most of you know, we did not come to China to start orphanages…. that was part of His plan that we did not know about at the time… we came to teach English at a University and use that vehicle to reach to the Chinese young people.

Now flash forward to the Home of Hope a few years later……. Some of the university students came to visit the orphanage and they donated and planted seven Japanese Cherry Blossom trees on our premises…

Come April, everyone enjoys the amazing beauty as those trees blossom! In the left picture above are (clockwise) Mitchie, Rachel, Gracie, Jacob, Caleb, Mary, Dawn, Aaron and our newest little guy, Alex!

Screen Shot 2013-05-16 at 4.42.15 PMThank you so much for you generous love offering to the Home of Hope! We are so grateful to each person who continues to share in the work here with their finances and prayers! It is quite amazing at what can be accomplished when so many are working toward the same goal…. bringing joy, happiness, peace, hope and Love into the lives of these fabulous children!

One can tell by looking closely at the faces of these children how happy they are! Such a far cry from the life they were living and destined to continue to live before the Home of Hope brought them in.

In the picture to the right, the Home of Hope mascot “Max”, is joining in the fun around one of the Cherry Trees. The children are: (left to right) Joy, Dawn, Rachel and Mary. The little person behind the tree is unidentified.

She has grown into an awesome young woman and we are so proud of her! She has had some really tough circumstances come her way but she faces each one with a joy and peace that we could all learn from.

Her last bout was partial paralysis when a blood vessel broke in her brain. Even though she still has some weakness on her right side, she is doing great and is working hard to graduate from High School with high enough marks to be able to attend an excellent university.

To the left is Holly Hou San Juan (holding little Aaron) who grew up at the Home of Hope. Holly has finished her university studies in Switzerland and has returned home and is in the process of planning out her future. The children love her!

One of her options is to stay at the GongYi Home of Hope as the administrator, which we would dearly love! However, we want the very best for her so please pray with us and Holly that she will find the best direction to take with her life.

Blessings to you!
