A Day of Fun

Ye Ye, It’s Nice Outside!

Greetings from China with tons of Thanks and great appreciation for your prayers and support during this last month.

With winter fading off into a dim memory and the days getting nicer and nicer, it’s very common for the kids to get their homework and chores finished as quickly as they can and then start playing outside!

DSC_0398This past Sunday afternoon they all got into jumping rope and riding Unicycles.

Everyone is familiar with jumping rope but Unicycles?RedBalloon

We had a real nice offer from a vendor of children’’s Unicycles so we purchased four of them at $11.00 each. A very good buy considering the hours of fun the kids have had since we got them.DSC_0367

As it turned out, the smaller kids stuck with the jump rope and some of the older kids practiced riding the Unicycles.

I was quite surprised watching these children who are generally gentle and fairly quiet… and yet how aggressively they attacked the rope!

GreenBalloonJust notice the look on Dawn’s face in the picture at the top of the page… she is planning on dominating as she steps in to take her turn! It is a constant reality that we find out more and more about these little ones with each and every different activity we get into.

For example, in a speaking activity of some type I am often surprised when suddenly a child who is so timid and quiet will turn into a talking machine. Sometimes in a competitive environment, a child who never seems to care whether he/she wins becomes very aggressive and does his/her best to win and quite often, once that change takes place the child remains very competitive from then on.
Screen Shot 2014-03-13 at 9.58.24 AM We feel this is a good thing and we encourage competition since orphans are looked down on as second class citizens and they will have to fight for their success all during their growing up years and even into adulthood at times.

BlueBalloonAgain, we want to extend our heart felt Thanks and Gratitude for your willingness to participate and be part of this awesome venture. The Home of Hope has been operating at this same location for fourteen years and as our babies become toddlers… our toddlers become adolescents, our adolescents become teenagers and our teenagers move on into college and marriage, we realize how little we can really do to guide and mold these children without help from above. So again wish to reaffirm how much we appreciate your financial support and we also ask for your prayers on a daily basis that we will have the wisdom and foresight to guide each one of these awesome children in the proper way they should go.

Thank You and Blessings!
