Awards Trip 1st Update
A few posts back we mentioned that we had many visitors on Children’s day with quite a few of them being from Beijing.
While they were here during children’s day, they devised a plan to start developing awards trips for the Home of Hope Children who really try hard in various areas of self improvement including but not being limited to scholastic achievement, character traits, being polite, helping the staff, helping the younger children, keeping their home clean and neat along with quite a few other judging criteria.
After careful consideration, the first three to win the awards trip were (left to right, above) Caleb Xiong Qiang, Ruthie Xiong Shan and Michael Yang Wen Bo.
They headed off to Beijing Saturday, August 2nd and we are just now getting our first reports back from them about how their trip is going!
With some trepidation, even though the plan was well thought out with safety being the number one consideration, we put them on the train for Beijing and of course they were met in Beijing by their hosts whom we know well.
They arrived in Beijing at around 1:00 PM and their days of activities with the group of people who have started calling themselves “The Friends” began  immediately.
Everyone who followed the Beijing Olympics knows what that Bird Cage looking thing is… That’s the “Bird Cage”! Â The photo on the left (above) is an interaction photo/screen and was taken at the Dream Works display (see below)Â as that was one of the activities on their schedule.
The night was topped off with a show “How to Train Your Dragon” put on by the American “Dream Works” (above) and of course, you are not in China if you don’t have a good meal (below) when you are out and about like this! Â This particular meal was at a Thai Restaurant.
All in all the kids had a great start to their awards trip! Â We are so grateful to the Beijing Friends who made this possible for them and especially to XuBo who has organized and kept all of the details in proper order.
This is a once in a lifetime experience for these little guys… I meet many Chinese people.. older people…. who have never had the chance to visit Beijing.
Thank you for joining us in this great venture of bringing hope to the hopeless!
