New Home of Hope Arrivals – March 2007
On the 28th of March we took two new family members into the Home of Hope. They are brothers, Larry Zhou Zhi Huang, seven years old and Ron Zhou Zhi Jie, two years and six months old. Their story was one of tragedy, superstition and death but now is one of hope and great anticipation for their future.
In the middle of March a lady came to us with two little boys. We took her and the two little guys into the office and listened to what she had to say. She told us she was the little boy’s neighbor and they lived with their old grandmother who was an invalid. She told us how a short time after little Ron Zhou Zhi Jie was born, their father was killed by electrocution while on the job. The grandfather quickly came to believe that somehow his son’s wife had cast some type spell which resulted in her husband (his son) being electrocuted. Consequently, full of this superstition and belief he killed his daughter-in-law, Ron and Larry’s mother. A short time later he drank poison and took his own life. This left the two little boys and the elderly grandmother with no one to care for them. The grandmother can’t even walk.
Finally the neighbors heard about the Home of Hope and the lady pictured above brought the two little boys and came to see us. Our hearts were filled with compassion for these little ones and we determined to do what we could for them.
After their physicals, our normal investigation including verifying all the facts with the village where they live and checking all the documents involved we welcomed them into the arms of the Home of Hope on March 28th.
Larry moved into the dorm with the other boys his age and Ron went into the nursery.
